Delay in declaration of Ranipuram Wildlife sanctuary is a huge setback for ecotourism projects in Kasaragod

Much acclaimed mini airport and golf course by BRDC lies only in paper.That is why major hotel groups like Leela already withdrawn their project. The negligence spread to Ranipuram ecotourism project. The best way to boost ecotourism is the declaration of a wildlife sanctuary sorounding reserved Forests of of Ranipuram hill station. Our MLA's did not raise any voice for studying and setting up of Ranipuram wildlife sanctuary. But karanataka forest department already made water holes for thirsty wild elephants and protecting wildlife corridor near Ranipuram. Kerala FD did not decalred Ranipuram as a wildlife sanctuary and wild elephants are visiting in summer only. So we must make arrangements for staying of wild elphants in the forests of kasaragod throughout the year by providing water holes and making an elephant corridor. Other wise encroachment, deforestation, granite quarrying and climate change may intensify in this part in future.
